My Travel Philosophy
Quiet Luxury • Immersive Storytelling • Meaningful Connection
Travel, for me, isn’t an escape; it’s immersion.
I travel to see, taste, and feel the soul of a place. My style leans toward quiet luxury with character—lodgings and experiences that are deeply connected to their surroundings, rich in story, and authentic in feel.
I prefer a leisurely yet efficient rhythm, balancing immersive days with restful pauses. Each trip feels like a new chapter in a lifelong story: thoughtful, purposeful, and full of beauty.
Travel isn’t about collecting destinations; it’s about honoring the time we have, creating meaning, and savoring the world with gratitude and wonder.
I hope to see the world in its entirety; to visit all the places, do all the things, and fill the years with a variety of experiences. Each journey should bring something new: a distinct region, mood, or experience. I seek diversity in landscapes, cultures, and stays, from boutique city inns to wilderness lodges, glamping tents, and coastal villas.
Trip Rhythm & Pacing
I favor longer, deeper trips with minimal hotel switches, designed around a natural, story-like flow:
Gentle Arrival: A soft start to adjust, breathe, and settle in.
Immersive Middle: Core days rich in exploration, food, and connection.
Celebratory Finale: A meaningful close—sunset dinner, champagne, reflection, or simply quiet wonder.
My ideal cadence includes one major trip per year, complemented by smaller seasonal escapes and restorative downtime at home. Trips with our kids follow a slightly different rhythm: shorter, more flexible, and built around shared adventure and connection rather than distance covered.
And soon (yay, retirement!), we’ll finally begin the rhythm we’ve dreamed about: longer journeys taken slowly, with time to savor, write, and be wherever we are.
Planning & Partnership
I’m a planner at heart. I love the creative process of turning curiosity into an itinerary.
I value collaborators who bring insight, creativity, and logistical finesse, people who understand that great travel blends artistry with organization.
Planning is a partnership, not a transaction. I look for designers who share my attention to detail, welcome my input, and seamlessly integrate logistics with storytelling and soul.
Lodging & Atmosphere
I’m drawn to places with warmth, texture, and character: boutique hotels, lodges, and distinctive stays that feel part of their surroundings rather than imposed upon them.
I seek properties with a sense of soul, where design, views, and hospitality tell the story of the land. Think stone walls, warm light, handcrafted details, and peaceful settings over opulence or polish for its own sake.
Food & Drink
Meals are never filler; they’re experiences.
I love discovering a region through its flavors: from humble market stalls and roadside gems to tasting menus and Michelin-starred tables.
I aim for a balance between rustic and refined, always guided by authenticity and atmosphere. Sunset cocktails, regional specialties, and local wines are highlights.
Each journey carries a quiet ritual of celebration: a final-night dinner, a sunset aperitif, or a reflective toast to what the trip has meant.
Activity & Adventure
I enjoy light-to-moderate hikes and gentle adventures that bring us closer to nature and culture without pushing into extremes.
I have a fear of heights, so I skip high ledges, suspension bridges, and steep drop-offs—but I do try to tiptoe into bravery once per trip. The key is to embark on cautious, controlled adventures that reward courage with awe, such as snorkeling with sea turtles, a waterfall rappel, or something just outside the comfort zone.
With the right guide and pacing, those small moments of bravery often become the most meaningful memories.
Value & Investment
We value meaning over extravagance.
My philosophy is simple: spend where it matters, save where it doesn’t. We invest in experiences, places, and people that create depth, connection, and once-in-a-lifetime memories, not luxury for its own sake.
Comfort, authenticity, and connection are our benchmarks. We spend where it enhances depth, safety, or significance, not where it simply signals status.
Legacy & Multi-Generational Travel
As our family grows, we hope to share parts of our journey with future generations—trips that inspire curiosity, connection, and a sense of gratitude.
We want to pass along the joy of exploration and the belief that wonder can last a lifetime.
In Essence
Quiet beauty, immersive rhythms, and meaningful connections characterize my travel style.
I chase not just where the world looks beautiful, but where it feels beautiful.
Each journey is an act of appreciation: for time, for people, and for the vast, intricate world waiting to be known.
