FIELD NOTES: Waking Up 30 Minutes Before My House Wakes (No one is asking me for anything yet. That’s the whole point.)
The Situation
The house is loud.
Not always physically loud… but mentally, constantly on.
Someone needs something. Something needs doing. The day starts fast.
The System
Wake up 30 minutes earlier than everyone else.
No phone.
No agenda.
Just coffee and quiet.
What Actually Worked
Sitting in silence before the day starts
Coffee while it’s still hot (a small miracle)
Not immediately reacting to anything
Letting the day approach me instead of the other way around
What Didn’t / I’d Change
Opening my phone → immediately ruins it
Trying to “use the time productively” → defeats the point
Thinking it has to be a whole routine → it doesn’t
Steal This
Wake up just a little earlier than the house
Sit down before doing anything
Protect the quiet like it matters (because it does)
Don’t turn it into a project
The Unofficial Formula
coffee + quiet + no input
Closing note
It’s not a routine.
It’s not a system.
It’s just a small pocket of calm before everything starts.
And lately, that’s been enough.
This is the part no one sees.
